APEX 2013 is in the record books

Thanks to everybody who made APEX Adventures another big success for the 5th year in a row!  A lot of people ask me how I manage to put up with a van load of 10 middle school kids for 4 days in a row, 4-6 sessions each summer, being being on the trail or on the river in all kinds of weather.  I'm really not kidding at all when I commonly respond by saying "I'm living the dream!"  I get to see a van load of kids come in on Monday mornings, not knowing each other at all, turn into a tightly bonded group of friends by the end of each session on thursday evening.  I get to see kids, some of whom have never really ventured into mountains become mountain bike afficianados or decide that they want to take their family on a hike that they first did as a part of APEX Adventures.  

This year, I'd like to especially thank the people that were APEX repeaters!  A large number of my campers this year have been with APEX for the past several years.  That means that APEX is doing something right.  There are some big new plans in the works for 2014 so stay in touch, and remember... "IT'S OUT THERE!"

WHO can go?
APEX accepts rising 6th graders through rising 9th graders, boy or girl from any school!

WHEN?
Here are the dates for APEX 2013:
June 17-20
June 24-27
July 15-18
July 22-25
July 29- Aug 1

WHERE do we meet and WHAT will we be doing?
-We meet in the parking lot of Langston Charter Middle School at 8:00 each morning.
-The APEX van will leave LCMS and return later that same evening.
schedule of each day's events for each session:
Mondays: Hiking (Higher elevations in NC, great big open views, great swimming holes)
Tuesdays: Mountain Biking (fun for all levels on some of the NC's best singletrack)
Wednesdays: Hiking (River-based hiking trail with great overlooks and waterfalls combined)
Thursdays: Whitewater (Guided raft trip on the Nantahala River)

HOW much is it?
4-day session including all activities, transportation, and lunch: $295.00
1-day trip including activity, transportation, and lunch: $85.00
Mountain bike rental: $30.00.
